The Legislative Standoff
A motion introduced by Democratic members of the Minnesota House of Representatives sought to bring a companion bill to SF 4067 to a vote. However, this attempt failed in a tie vote of 67-67. This parliamentary setback led to intense discussions and disputes on the House floor, marking a contentious end to the legislative session.
Following the failed vote, Democratic lawmakers staged a sit-in to press Minnesota House Speaker Lisa Demuth to allow a vote on the proposed legislation. Despite these efforts, the gun control bill ultimately died at midnight CDT when the legislative session concluded.
