California issued a CDL to an illegal alien who struck a five-year-old girl at 60 miles per hour.
That girl, Delilah Coleman, was in a coma for three weeks following the crash. The driver, identified as Partap Singh, a native of India living in the country illegally, was behind the wheel of a semi-truck when it slammed into the vehicle carrying Delilah. She survived but was left permanently disabled and has undergone multiple surgeries since.
Now Delilah has become a focal point of the Trump administration’s push to remove dangerous illegal alien drivers from American roads. President Donald Trump highlighted her story during his 2026 State of the Union address. Legislation bearing her name has also been introduced in Congress. That bill would require English-only licensing exams and bar illegal aliens from obtaining commercial driver’s licenses.

Vice President JD Vance brought Delilah onstage at a recent campaign rally, where the crowd responded with a standing ovation. According to a report, Vance addressed the crowd directly, calling Delilah “amazing and beautiful” and praising her resilience.
Delilah is a five-year-old little girl, and she was actually nearly killed, thank God she wasn’t, by an illegal alien truck driver who was on the road despite not being properly qualified,” Vance told the audience.
He then turned his fire on the previous administration, blaming it for allowing Singh to operate a commercial vehicle on American roads. “She was in a coma for three weeks in the hospital because the last administration let a lowlife drive on the road who had no business being in this country, and certainly no business being on the roadways with a semi truck,” Vance said.
Vance closed by tying Delilah’s story to a broader political argument. “Thank you for helping us elect a generation of leaders that are going to fight for the Delilahs of this state instead of against them,” he told supporters. “Politics is not rocket science.”
The crowd responded to each mention of Delilah with loud applause, rising to its feet as Vance wrapped his remarks. The moment reflected the administration’s ongoing effort to use her case as a symbol of what it describes as preventable harm caused by gaps in immigration enforcement and driver licensing standards.
Delilah, now seven years old, has continued to recover. Vance told the crowd she has made “an amazing comeback” and predicted she would make an even greater one ahead.
