Trump publicly called for a boycott of Bruce Springsteen’s concerts after the rocker attacked him from the stage.
The feud went public after Springsteen opened his 20-date “Land of Hope and Dreams American Tour” on March 31 at the Target Center in Minneapolis. He had already signaled the tour would be political. He delivered on that promise, interrupting a nearly three-hour performance with multiple speeches targeting Trump, then-Attorney General Pam Bondi, immigration enforcement, and the administration’s foreign policy.
Trump responded two days later with a lengthy Truth Social post.
As originally reported, Trump described Springsteen as a “bad, and very boring singer” who “looks like a dried up prune” and accused him of suffering from “an incurable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome.” He called the musician “a total loser who spews hate against a President who won a Landslide Election.” Trump pointed specifically to his victory in the popular vote, all seven swing states, and 86 percent of counties across the country.
Springsteen had endorsed former Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2024 campaign and previously called Trump the most dangerous presidential candidate of his lifetime. Trump still swept all seven major battleground states and returned to the White House with 312 electoral votes.
Trump used his post to draw a sharp contrast between the current moment and the Biden years. “Under Sleepy Joe and the Dems, our Country was DEAD, and now we have the ‘hottest’ Country, by far, anywhere in the World,” he wrote. He closed by urging Americans to hold on to their money rather than spend it on what he called Springsteen’s overpriced shows.
Springsteen opened the Minneapolis concert with Edwin Starr’s “War” and wasted little time getting political. He accused the Trump administration of being “corrupt, incompetent, racist, reckless and treasonous.” He called Trump a “snowflake” who “can’t handle the truth.” He claimed the United States had become a “reckless, unpredictable, predatory rogue nation.” He also attacked Bondi directly, accused the Justice Department of targeting political opponents, and condemned the administration’s immigration enforcement operations. Throughout the night, he reminded the crowd that everything he described was “happening now.”
Springsteen has a long history of campaigning for Democratic candidates and using his concerts as political platforms. His activism included appearances at campaign rallies and consistent public condemnation of Trump over the years. His latest tour takes that approach further by weaving anti-administration speeches and protest material directly into the performances themselves.
Trump’s post framed the singer’s remarks as the grievances of a celebrity whose candidate lost, and called on his supporters to skip Springsteen’s shows entirely.
