Lindsay Clancy’s defense attorney publicly attacked Sean Hannity and Nancy Grace outside a courtroom Monday.
Kevin Reddington unloaded on the Fox News host and the veteran legal commentator as he entered court ahead of jury deliberations in the Clancy murder trial. He told reporters the weekend media coverage had been “horrific.”
Reddington singled out Grace with particular force, calling her “the Queen of Mean” and accusing her of fabricating details about evidence presented at trial.
“I challenge Nancy Grace to show us where Lindsay Clancy ever said, ever googled ‘How to kill,'” Reddington said. “Words that came out of her mouth. These things hurt people. If you’re going to be a journalist, do it right.”
As originally reported, Reddington then shifted tone, offering praise to two local journalists who have followed the trial closely.
Inside the courtroom, jurors had asked Friday morning to review key physical evidence. Judge William Sullivan appeared before the court holding two clear plastic bags containing pill bottles. Reddington later confirmed to the Daily Mail that jurors requested those two bags of pill bottles, which were recovered by police and by Clancy’s ex-husband Patrick. They also asked to examine the bloody knife Clancy used during her suicide attempt.
The 12-person jury began deliberating Thursday following closing arguments from both sides. Nine women and three men were chosen from a pool of 18 jurors. They are weighing five possible verdicts: first-degree murder, second-degree murder, manslaughter, not guilty, or not guilty by reason of insanity.
Clancy is accused of killing her children at the family’s Massachusetts home. The trial has drawn intense national media attention, and Reddington’s courtroom outburst made clear the defense team is watching that coverage closely and does not like what it sees.
