Punjab Police arrested Manjit Singh Bedi, an FBI Most Wanted fraudster, in Jalandhar, India.
Bedi is a naturalized U.S. citizen originally from India. His arrest came after federal authorities added him to the FBI’s Most Wanted Fraudsters list, connecting him to alleged Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program fraud charges filed in the Western District of Washington. U.S. authorities are now working to bring him back to face those charges.
According to a report, Bedi operated a store called Asian Grocery in Tacoma, Washington. That business received federal authorization to accept SNAP benefits through Electronic Benefit Transfer cards in February 2024.

What followed, federal investigators allege, was a brazen scheme that ran from March 2024 through June 2025. During that period, Bedi is accused of defrauding the U.S. government out of at least $600,000.
The alleged method was straightforward. Rather than providing customers with eligible food items in exchange for their EBT card transactions, Bedi allegedly processed the transactions and handed recipients cash instead. He reportedly kept roughly half the value of each transaction for himself, turning a federally funded nutrition program into a personal revenue stream.
The case now moves toward extradition, with U.S. authorities coordinating to return Bedi to Washington state to face the charges against him.
