A pedestrian was struck and killed on Interstate 26 in South Carolina near the Buckcherry tour bus crash.
The incident unfolded early Friday morning in Spartanburg County, and it was not a single event. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, what happened that night broke down into three separate but connected crashes along the same stretch of road.
The first involved a single vehicle, driven by a male driver whose cause of accident remains under investigation. That driver then exited his car and was standing on the roadway when a Toyota sedan traveling east struck him. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been publicly released. The driver of the Toyota was not arrested, and that crash is also still under investigation.
The third incident, a five-vehicle pileup, is where Buckcherry’s tour bus entered the picture. Some people involved in that collision suffered minor injuries, but no one required a hospital trip. The full extent of contact between the bus and the other vehicles has not been detailed by officials.
As originally reported, the band released a statement addressing both the tragedy and the safety of their crew. At approximately 2:00 AM Friday morning, Buckcherry’s tour bus was involved in a multi-vehicle accident on I-26 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina,” it read. “We are extremely grateful to report that all members of Buckcherry and our touring crew are safe and unharmed.” The band also noted their “thoughts and deepest condolences” go to the family of the person who lost their life.
Buckcherry had been on the road as part of its Roar Like Thunder tour, supporting an album of the same name released in June 2025. The group had just performed in North Carolina before the crash occurred. Despite everything, the band pressed forward. Their next scheduled show in Fort Lauderdale, Florida went on as planned Saturday night, and future tour dates are expected to continue without interruption.
The band thanked fans for their outpouring of concern and well wishes following the news.
No additional statements from band members have been issued beyond the initial release. Highway patrol has also not offered further public comment as of this report. Both the pedestrian fatality and the bus-involved crash remain under active investigation.
