An Amazon Prime Air Boeing 767 cargo jet overran a runway at Miami International Airport Sunday afternoon and burst into flames.
Flight 7598, arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico, touched down on Runway 30 around 2 p.m. and failed to stop before the end of the pavement. The plane crossed a perimeter road and NW 67th Avenue before coming to rest in an adjacent field. Video footage from local stations showed the aircraft leaving the runway, rolling over the roadway, and stopping just beyond it.
Flames ran along the fuselage and thick smoke rose from the wreckage, though the plane remained largely intact. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units arrived to find the aircraft fully engulfed in heavy fire. Responders also reported the plane struck multiple vehicles near the 2100 block of Northwest 42nd Avenue. More than 60 fire and rescue units were deployed to the scene.

Miami International Airport released a statement confirming the runway overrun and noting that all runways and taxiways were closed following the crash. A full ground stop was put in place, halting all departures as of approximately 2:30 p.m. Emergency responders shut down access near NW 34th Street and NW 67th Avenue. The airport advised passengers with scheduled flights to check with their airlines before traveling to the airport.
The Federal Aviation Administration logged the airport status as a disabled aircraft on the runway, with an estimated resolution time of 4:30 p.m. EDT. Weather conditions at the time included active thunderstorms, a temperature of 86 degrees Fahrenheit, and south winds blowing at 19.6 knots.
