Rep. Jasmine Crockett under fire after remarks spark backlash — and a police report

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) has come under scrutiny following remarks made during a livestream supporting the “Tesla Takedown” movement. In the broadcast, she stated, “All I want to see happen on my birthday is for Elon to be taken down.” While Crockett emphasized that her comments were metaphorical and advocated for nonviolent protest, critics argue that such language could be interpreted as inciting violence.

The controversy intensified after a video surfaced showing Crockett attempting to grab a reporter’s phone when questioned about her statements. The incident led to a police report being filed, though no charges have been announced.

Crockett has defended her remarks, asserting that she has “never promoted violence whatsoever” and that her calls to action are rooted in peaceful advocacy for democracy. Despite her clarifications, the debate continues over the impact of political rhetoric and its potential consequences.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett was also under investigation according to a political news report on USA Journal:

A new investigation has been launched into one of Congress’s most outspoken progressive Democrats. On April 2, the Federal Election Commission (FEC) opened a formal probe into Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) following a complaint filed by the conservative Coolidge-Reagan Foundation. The complaint, submitted on March 26, focuses on questionable donations to Crockett’s 2024 re-election campaign made through ActBlue, the Democratic Party’s primary fundraising platform.

According to the FEC’s letter to the foundation, “The respondents will be notified of this complaint within five business days.” The letter, written by FEC Assistant General Counsel Wanda D. Brown to Dan Backer, a Washington attorney representing the foundation, adds, “You will be notified as soon as the Federal Election Commission (FEC) takes final action on your client’s complaint. Should you receive any additional information in this matter, please forward it to the Office of the General Counsel.”
