A Fox News fan known for years of online support was stabbed to death in a random attack.
Andrew James Wimsatt, 62, was killed on Labor Day in Round Rock, Texas, while sitting near a park bench in broad daylight. The attack happened shortly before 11 a.m., close to Double File Trail Elementary School.
Benedict Ogbodiegwu Jr., 26, was arrested and charged with murder. Surveillance footage allegedly shows him approaching Wimsatt from behind and repeatedly stabbing him in the neck. According to an arrest affidavit, Wimsatt tried to fight back but could not escape. The suspect allegedly continued the attack after Wimsatt fell to the ground, then left the area.

A woman found Wimsatt with severe neck injuries around 11:15 a.m. and called police.
As originally reported, investigators traced the suspect through surveillance footage showing him at a nearby McDonald’s in different clothing and getting into a red SUV registered to his family. When detectives showed Ogbodiegwu a still image from the scene, he allegedly acknowledged being the person in the photo before reversing course and denying he had been at the park. He also claimed to have a twin but reportedly could not supply the twin’s name.
A search near his home turned up a trash bag containing clothing that matched what the suspect wore in the surveillance footage, along with a large knife. The blade tested presumptively positive for blood.
Authorities said Wimsatt and Ogbodiegwu had no prior connection. Investigators are treating the killing as a random attack. Wimsatt had reportedly just returned from a visit to his mother at a nursing home shortly before he was killed.
The loss landed with particular weight at Fox News. Wimsatt was a civil engineer who earned three degrees from the University of Texas at Austin. Beyond his professional life, he had built a quiet but dedicated presence online, spending years clipping and sharing television appearances by media figures he admired, including personalities at Fox News.
