Steve Doocy is back where millions of Fox News viewers first came to love him, at least for a few days.
The veteran morning show host returned to Studio M this week, sliding back onto the famous “Fox & Friends” couch alongside Ainsley Earhardt and Brian Kilmeade while Lawrence B. Jones takes some time off. It marks Doocy’s first extended stretch on that iconic couch in over a year.
As originally reported, Doocy took to social media to share the news with fans, posting a photo of the three hosts together. “I’m back on the couch a couple days filling in for Lawrence. Always a pleasure seeing Ainsley and Brian and the Studio M Crew,” he wrote.
He also gave followers a peek at his usual sense of humor. “I’ll be back to my coast to coast hosting next week, faraway from NYC, but this is a nice chance to drop in on HQ to catch up with my pals over an insanely expensive cup of coffee,” he joked.
The brief homecoming wasn’t without some serious television moments. Doocy’s time back on the couch included an interview with President Donald Trump, which aired during the heated period surrounding Dr. Anthony Fauci’s Senate hearing.
Doocy’s return to New York is temporary by design. Fox News announced in May 2025 that the broadcaster, after nearly three decades as a fixture on the morning couch, would transition into a new Coast-to-Coast Host role. The position lets him report from locations across the country while still making appearances on “Fox & Friends.”
The role change came alongside a major life shift. Doocy and his wife, Kathy, made a permanent move to Jupiter, Florida, a place they had already called a part-time home for years. Property records show the couple purchased their three-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom Jupiter home back in 2014 for $1 million, just one month after it listed.
For Fox News fans, the Doocy name carries double weight. Steve is also the father of Peter Doocy, the network’s senior White House correspondent, making them one of the most recognizable father-son pairings in cable news history.
For now, though, Steve is enjoying a brief return to the place that made him a household name before heading back out on the road.
