White House defends president after Joe Biden called out for ‘not being very helpful’

Congress is expected to pass anti-gun legislation, and the White House is allowing them to do so. Legislators warned President Biden not to jeopardize the process.
However, the White House press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, claims that Joe Biden will continue to ask for more action because that is something that voters expect and want him to do.
“He believes that Congress should continue to act, and we are going to see how the negotiations go,” Jean-Pierre said. “We’re going to give it the space that it needs, and we’re not going to speak to what exactly is being discussed.”
Biden has been adamant about including an assault weapons ban in the framework, which will almost certainly include red flag measures, extensive background checks, school safety improvements, and mental health checks.
“Let me just say that the president is encouraged by the discussions that are happening currently in the Senate by the bipartisan group that’s being led by Sen. Murphy and other members,” Jean-Pierre added. “It shows the urgency of the moment.”
Over the weekend, retiring Republican Senator Pat Toomey (PA) chastised Biden for complicating anti-gun debates. Toomey was discussing the situation in the aftermath of the shootings in Buffalo, New York, and Uvalde, Texas.
“Since day one, he has sided with the far Left of his party and really not reached out to Republicans,” Toomey told CBS. “So, once again, the president is not being very helpful,” per report.
Jean-Pierre dismissed Toomey, citing “constant communication” with Congress from the White House Office of Legislative Affairs.
The Texas shooting caused a lot of stir in the last couple of days, causing many senators and lawmakers to speak up. In related news, Joe Biden was accused of “diving country” during his speech after the tragical event in one of the Texan schools:
“There are parents who will never see their child again, never have them jump in bed and cuddle with them. Parents who will never be the same.
To lose a child is like having a piece of your soul ripped away. There’s a hollowness in your chest, and you feel like you’re being sucked into it and never going to be able to get out. It’s suffocating. And it’s never quite the same.
…
So, tonight, I ask the nation to pray for them, to give the parents and siblings the strength in the darkness they feel right now.
As a nation, we have to ask: When in God’s name are we going to stand up to the gun lobby? When in God’s name will we do what we all know in our gut needs to be done?
…
What in God’s name do you need an assault weapon for except to kill someone?”
Biden’s speech did not inspire everyone. Many people used the opportunity to say that the President took advantage of the situation to bash Republicans and that he should have tried to unite the country during difficult times.
