Amazon has pulled paperback listings for the 1973 novel The Camp of the Saints from its U.S. site, igniting fresh accusations of political censorship and reviving a long-running fight over a book that has divided readers for decades. Written by French author and explorer Jean Raspail, the novel depicts the collapse of Western civilization through mass immigration into France and other parts of Western Europe. Critics have long condemned the book as racist and xenophobic. Supporters argue it was a warning about cultural decline and the consequences of mass migration.
