Democrat Senator accuses FBI of fake background check on Brett Kavanaugh

The FBI is under watchful eye after a lawmaker suggested that the 2018 background check on Brett Kavanaugh was fake.

It was Democratic Senator Sheldon Whitehouse who is now calling upon Merrick Garland to look into the FBI and their investigation on now Justice Kavanaugh.

Whitehouse is on the judiciary committee and, according to reports, is being called to provide “proper oversight” into how much the FBI actually looked into Brett Kavanaugh amid the accusations he faced during the time right before he was confirmed to the Supreme Court.

Kavanaugh had denied claims and the testimony by Christine Blasey Ford, who suggested something happened with Kavanaugh when they were in high school, had went nowhere.

When the FBI investigated the allegations, they came up basically empty and were then accused by Democrats of not doing a complete investigation or background check. For example, neither Kavanaugh nor Ford were interviewed during the investigation process.

As reported:

Among the concerns listed in Whitehouse’s letter to Garland are allegations that some witnesses who wanted to share their accounts with the FBI could not find anyone at the bureau who would accept their testimony and that it had not assigned any individual to accept or gather evidence.

“This was unique behavior in my experience, as the Bureau is usually amenable to information and evidence; but in this matter the shutters were closed, the drawbridge drawn up, and there was no point of entry by which members of the public or Congress could provide information to the FBI,” Whitehouse said.

It remains unclear if anything further will be done, or if the FBI will bother to respond to the allegations.
