Kara Hernandez is a former orchestra teacher at Ronald Thornton Middle School in Fort Bend Independent School District (FBISD), Texas. She was arrested on February 14, 2025, and faces charges of indecency with a child involving sexual contact and improper relationship between an educator and a student. The alleged incidents occurred in April and October 2022 with a middle school student.

Hernandez, 31 at the time of her arrest, resigned from her position in September 2024 during the district’s investigation after allegations were raised by a former student. Court records indicate the case is being handled in the 434th District Court of Fort Bend County, with her bond set at $50,000 ($25,000 per charge) and a court appearance scheduled for April 28, 2025.

Hernandez is a graduate of the University of Houston, where she earned a Bachelor of Music Education with a K-12 Music Certification, and a product of FBISD, having attended Clements High School, Commonwealth Elementary, and Fort Settlement Middle School. She served as a private viola teacher and clinician in FBISD since 2015, was the TMEA Region XIII Orchestra division chair in 2022, and coordinated the FBISD Summer Orchestra Camp, as reported.

She is married with four children and has been described as passionate about music education, collaborating with local schools to enhance orchestra programs.

Note: There are other individuals named Kara Hernandez in different professions, such as a social studies teacher in Utah or an HR generalist in Texas, but the above details pertain to the Kara Hernandez associated with the FBISD case.
