Homan Says Immigration Enforcement Expanding Nationwide After 10,000 Arrests

Border Czar Tom Homan said the Trump administration is expanding immigration enforcement nationwide, citing more than 10,000 arrests by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers over five days.

Homan made the remarks in an interview with Newsmax, according to source material accompanying his statements.

“I’ve always said, no one’s off the table,” Homan said. “If you’re in the country illegally, we’re looking for you.”

He said the administration is increasing efforts to locate and remove people living in the United States illegally. He also criticized sanctuary city policies that limit local cooperation with federal immigration authorities.

Homan said anyone in the country illegally could face enforcement action.

Homan serves as the administration’s border czar, a role focused on immigration enforcement and border security policy. ICE, part of the Department of Homeland Security, carries out arrests and removals of people in the country without legal status.

Sanctuary policies vary by jurisdiction but generally restrict the extent to which local law enforcement shares information or coordinates with federal immigration officers.

The source material states that supporters of the strategy argue it strengthens border security and public safety. Critics say the expanded enforcement could negatively affect immigrant communities.

The figure of more than 10,000 arrests in five days was attributed to Homan and has not been independently verified in the source material.
