Migrants vs Cops incident at Ramada was ‘by the book’

Welcome to this week’s cops vs migrants battle at the Ramada Inn located in the Yonkers section of New York. A video circulated social media showing cops arresting at least two migrants staying at the hotel – which has 82 families being housed in it, and I assume the migrants are living there rent free thanks to the government or donations from non-profit charities who probably need a tax deduction.

One of the migrants got into a little bit of a scuffle with the police, somehow, and she ended up being taken down to the ground. Some people, mostly folks who don’t like police and probably don’t care if Yonkers gets ruined, said the cops went too far. So the cops released the body cam footage and a statement saying everything was “by the book,” according to a migrant report by News12:

Yonkers police spokesman Detective Sgt. Frank Didomazio says everything happened by the book. “One officer is holding her legs down to make sure she doesn’t kick, the other officers are holding her arms…And she received no injuries, so ultimately what it comes down to is it was successful,” he says.

The report on the migrants vs cops at Ramada Inn say calls to police have gone up from about 90 to 130 since the year the migrants arrived. Most of which appears to be disputes between hotel guests, or between hotel guests and hotel staff.

Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano sounds like he is annoyed by the migrants arriving, but says they’ll be treated fairly. ABC7NY quoted Mayor Mike Spano saying: “I’m mad at those who brought migrants to our community, but certainly we would never treat the migrants with any less dignity than they deserve.”

On the other hand, some migrants are saying they’re offended by what’s going on. They said they came here to live the American dream, but now they don’t feel safe and their things keep getting stolen. It’s believed some staff at the Ramada Inn are entering rooms without permission – which is normal here in America. It’s called room service. I know if you’ve never had room service before and now you’re living in a hotel free of charge, then that may be a shock to some of them. Some staff allegedly stole things, but the hotel fired back that they’re removing things like hot pots which aren’t allowed and pose a safety threat to the hotel.

I think I know the problem here though. The people who run the Ramada Inn probably don’t want their hotel being used as a migrant shelter. Just gonna say that part out loud now because I know many others won’t say it. The people running the hotel probably think it’s bad for business. Would you stay at a hotel being used as a migrant shelter, or would you go down the street to one that isn’t? We all know the truth here.
