911 call and video show fatal moment 10-foot alligator gets 85-year-old woman and tiny dog

Anytime you’re in Florida, you just have to stay away from the water if it’s known to be infested with alligators. Here’s a time that an 85-year-old woman and her tiny dog were the fatal victims of a giant alligator who looked like it wanted the dog as a snack, but somehow ended up with both of them. This took place in a retirement community in Florida, so if you know anyone who lives out there, then you may want to give them a call and reminder about staying away from the water or at least getting away when they see a gator approaching.Reports say the dog survived, but the woman was pulled under. The alligator was later captured and euthanized. CBS News had the details:

An 85-year-old woman was killed by a 10-foot alligator in Fort Pierce, Florida, wildlife officials said Monday. The woman was walking her dog in the Spanish Lakes Fairways retirement community at the time of the attack, according to officials. Neighbors told CBS News that the alligator emerged from the water suddenly and dragged the woman under.

“The victim has been recovered and a contracted nuisance alligator trapper has captured the alligator involved in the incident,” the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said in a statement. Video and photos of the aftermath showed the large gator being wrangled by at least six people at times before being loaded into the back of a pickup truck. Neighbors told CBS affiliate WPEC-TV that gators were not an uncommon sight in the area, but they had never witnessed an attack like Monday’s.
