HOLY SMOKES. The Democratic Governor of Maine allegedly handed out state contracts to a Somali NGO that, wait for it, REGISTERED MIGRANTS TO VOTE in the 2022 election… and now that same NGO has been caught committing Medicaid fraud.
It’s like a political scandal bingo card where someone just yelled “Bingo!” mid-round. Apparently, Janet Mills, while setting up the Office of New Americans as a migrant resettlement agency, chose Eklis Ahmed, a former Gateway Community Services employee.
Gateway, in turn, scored multiple no-bid contracts from Mills’ administration for “community health outreach” which, plot twist, included registering migrants to vote. And this isn’t just your average fraud case; this is the deluxe edition, allegedly bound tightly to the Maine Democratic Party with enough connections to make a spider jealous.
As Steve Robinson of the Maine Wire put it, it’s not just Somali Medicaid fraud, it’s Somali Democrat Medicaid fraud, complete with elaborate party ties and gubernatorial cameos. This isn’t just seismic, it’s like political tectonic plates throwing a rave. And apparently, it’s not just Minnesota… it’s everywhere.
