a man identified only as "David" went viral alongside YouTuber Nick Shirley for a video alleging extensive fraud in Minnesota's state-funded childcare system. During a follow-up visit to one of the facilities on December 30, 2025, David publicly offered $100,000 to anyone who could prove his information wrong.
Standing outside the "Quality Learning Center" in Minneapolis, David challenged observers to disprove the documentation he was carrying, allowing people to photograph his paperwork page by page.
He stated, "If anything on any of these pages is inaccurate, I’ll give you $100,000 if you can disprove it."
The pair claimed their investigation, which focused largely on centers operated by Somali immigrants, had uncovered approximately $110 million in fraudulent activity. While the video sparked intense national debate and a federal freeze on Minnesota's childcare funding, several state and local officials have disputed David's claims.
Minnesota Department of Children, Youth, and Families commissioner Tikki Brown stated that the facilities in the video had been visited as recently as six months prior and were found to have children present.
Furthermore, a Minnesota Star Tribune investigation visited the same 10 sites and found children at four of them, though six others were closed or would not open their doors at the time of the visit. Despite these rebuttals, David and Shirley have maintained the accuracy of their reports.
David recently escalated his actions by filing a criminal complaint against Governor Tim Walz, alleging the administration was complicit in allowing the fraud to continue.
