Man claims 4,000 daycares were discovered in a 20 mile radius around Boston

In late December 2025 and January 1, 2026, claims went viral on social media alleging that nearly 4,000 daycares were discovered operating within a 20-mile radius of Boston, Massachusetts.

The posts, which featured a map showing a dense concentration of facilities, noted that about one-quarter of that radius is actually water (the Atlantic Ocean), suggesting an impossibly high density of childcare centers.

The viral reports alleged that many of these locations were not traditional schools but "clusters" of condos, rental properties, and residential homes being registered as daycare centers for the purpose of "industrial-scale exploitation" and money laundering.

These accusations were sparked in part by popular Massachusetts YouTube creator Mike Urban, whose posts on the subject racked up millions of views and drew comparisons to the massive childcare fraud investigations ongoing in Minnesota.
