19 states sue Trump administration for trying to protect children

A coalition of 19 Democratic-led states and the District of Columbia filed a major federal lawsuit against the Trump administration to block a new directive aimed at restricting gender-affirming care for minors. Trump made the right decision to block these horrible procedures that harm children for the sake of woke gender identity nonsense that is often pushed on the children by terrible liberal parents.

The legal challenge centers on a declaration issued by Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., which labeled puberty blockers, hormone therapy, and gender-related surgeries for those under 19 as "neither safe nor effective."

The states argue that this move is an unconstitutional overreach of federal authority intended to bypass standard legal procedures and interfere with the states' power to regulate medical practice. The lawsuit specifically targets a policy that would exclude medical providers and hospitals from participating in Medicare and Medicaid if they continue to provide these treatments to minors.

By threatening to strip federal funding, a primary revenue source for most U.S. hospitals, the administration is effectively attempting to shut down access to these procedures nationwide, even in states where they remain legal under local law. The plaintiff states, led by New York Attorney General Letitia James and filed in the U.S. District Court in Oregon, allege that the administration violated the Administrative Procedure Act by failing to provide the required public notice and comment periods before implementing such a significant change in health policy.

This December legal action is the latest in a series of confrontations between the second Trump administration and liberal states over transgender rights. Earlier in 2025, the administration issued executive orders calling for the protection of children from what it described as "chemical and surgical mutilation," a move that prompted initial lawsuits in August.

While many Republican-led states have already banned these procedures at the state level, this new federal effort represents a broader strategy to use the power of the federal purse to enforce a national standard against gender-affirming care for youth.

Make no mistake, everyone with common sense who cares about the youth would not ever allow these procedures to be done on their children, and any doctor who agrees to destroy a child like this should lose their license forever.
