Scott Jennings posted: "The Democratic Party is sitting at an 18% approval rating. 18 PERCENT! The only support they seem to have is from friends, family, illegals and health insurance executives. They desperately need this "autopsy."
The job approval rating for Democrats in Congress fell to a record low of 18%, according to a national poll by Quinnipiac University. This figure marks the lowest approval rating since the university began tracking the metric in 2009, surpassing the previous low of 19% recorded earlier in July 2025. The data reveals that 73% of registered voters disapprove of the way congressional Democrats are handling their roles as the year concludes.
Internal dissatisfaction within the party is a primary driver of these results, with only 42% of self identified Democrats expressing approval for their party’s performance in Congress. This reflects a significant decline from October 2025, when Democratic approval of their own party stood at 58%. While congressional Republicans also face majority disapproval at 58%, their overall approval rating is higher at 35%, buoyed by a much stronger 77% support level from their own Republican base.
Despite these historically low approval numbers for the party's current performance, general voter sentiment regarding the future remains divided. The same Quinnipiac survey found that if an election were held today, 47% of voters would still want Democrats to win control of the House of Representatives, compared with 43% who favor the Republican Party. These findings highlight a persistent gap between public frustration with existing party leadership and the broader ideological preferences of the electorate heading into the 2026 midterm election cycle
