Somalian Asha Farhan Hassan, 28 (or 29 in some records), pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud for her role in a major scheme to defraud Minnesota’s Medicaid and autism care programs.

As the owner of Smart Therapy LLC, she overbilled for services never provided and paid kickbacks to families for enrolling their children. The fraud totaled approximately $14 million.

She also admitted to stealing $465,000 from federal nutrition programs as part of the Feeding Our Future scandal.

She agreed to pay nearly $16 million in restitution and faces a potential prison sentence of 70 to 87 months.

Smells like a good reason for deportation.
