Claims that Australia, France, and Germany have cancelled all 2025 New Year’s Eve (NYE) celebrations are largely false and misleading. While specific high-profile events in certain cities have been modified or cancelled due to security and safety concerns, major national celebrations, including iconic fireworks displays, are still scheduled to proceed.

Australia: Nationwide celebrations have not been cancelled.

Sydney: The world-famous Sydney Harbour Bridge fireworks are going ahead as planned. Confusion arose from the cancellation of a specific separate event, the Elrow XXL party at Bondi Beach, following a terror-linked mass shooting earlier in December.

France: Major celebrations in Paris have been scaled back, but not entirely cancelled. Paris: Authorities cancelled the large live concert on the Champs-Élysées to manage unpredictable crowd movements and heightened security. However, the midnight fireworks and video projection show at the Arc de Triomphe are still scheduled to occur.

Germany: There are no verified reports of broad, nationwide cancellations of NYE celebrations in Germany. While some cities may enhance security measures or limit specific gatherings, no blanket federal cancellation has been announced.

The viral narrative appears to have been fueled by social media posts exaggerating specific safety-related adjustments into total national bans. These posts often cite "Islamic terrorism" or political unrest as the reason for total cancellations, which does not align with official government statements that emphasize crowd control and logistics for the specific events being modified.
