Micah James Legnon is a 29-year-old former U.S. Marine and former New Iberia police officer who was arrested on December 12, 2025, for allegedly planning a domestic terror attack in New Orleans. According to federal court documents, Legnon is associated with the Turtle Island Liberation Front (TILF), which authorities describe as a far-left, anti-government, and anti-capitalist extremist group.
He was specifically linked to a radical offshoot of the group known as the Order of the Black Lotus, which was also implicated in a foiled New Year’s Eve bombing plot in Southern California.
The arrest occurred after federal agents, who had been surveilling Legnon due to his extremist ties, observed him loading an assault rifle and body armor into his vehicle. He was stopped on a highway while traveling toward New Orleans, where investigators believe he intended to target Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol agents.
A search of his vehicle and residence in New Iberia uncovered an assault rifle, a pistol, gas canisters, sniper training manuals, and multiple rounds of ammunition. Legnon is currently facing federal charges of making threats in interstate commerce.
Prosecutors allege that he used online aliases such as "Dark Witch" and "Kateri the Witch" to post threatening messages, including a social media post expressing a desire to "recreate Waco" against federal agents in New Orleans.
His military background and combat training have led federal authorities to classify him as a significant threat. While jail records list him as male, court documents indicate he uses "she/her" pronouns and has been identified as a transgender woman in some reports.
