federal authorities arrested Oluwadamilola Bamigboye, a 24-year-old Nigerian national, and his partner, Rekeya Frazier, 23, following a violent confrontation during a deportation attempt in Plymouth, Minnesota.

Bamigboye, who had overstayed his student visa, was being targeted for arrest by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents at his apartment complex. When agents approached the couple’s vehicle, a struggle ensued, and an HSI agent became trapped inside the SUV as the suspects fled the scene.

During the escape, the agent was "involuntarily carried" for approximately two miles while the suspects ignored repeated commands to stop. The pursuit ended at the New Hope Police Department, where Bamigboye jumped out of the moving vehicle and fled into a nearby grocery store before being apprehended.

Frazier was also taken into custody after initially refusing to exit the vehicle and resisting the officers on site.

Both individuals now face severe federal charges, including kidnapping and assaulting a federal officer. In his defense, Bamigboye claimed his actions were a "fight-or-flight" response triggered by post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) from a past kidnapping experience in Nigeria, stating he did not immediately recognize the agents as law enforcement. Both suspects remain in federal custody as legal proceedings continue.
