Police airlift a crocodile with the body of a 59-year-old businessman inside it

A week-long search for 59-year-old businessman Gabriel Batista, missing after his car was caught in floodwaters, ended with a dangerous and complex operation. Aerial patrols spotted a massive alligator lying unusually still, its swollen stomach suggesting it had recently eaten something large. The animal was shot before being removed from the Komati River by a police diving team and flown to Kruger National Park, where human remains were discovered in its stomach. Police confirmed the remains would undergo DNA testing to verify the victim’s identity.
