Karmelo Anthony is a 17-year-old student from Frisco, Texas, attending Centennial High School. He is charged with first-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf, a student at Frisco Memorial High School, on April 2, 2025, during a track meet at Kuykendall Stadium. The incident reportedly stemmed from a dispute over seating under a team tent. Witnesses state Metcalf asked Anthony to leave, leading to an altercation where Anthony allegedly stabbed Metcalf once in the chest with a knife.
Metcalf died shortly after at a hospital despite attempts at CPR. Anthony was arrested at the scene and reportedly told police, “I’m not alleged, I did it,” while claiming self-defense, stating Metcalf had touched him after being warned.
His bond was initially set at $1 million but reduced to $250,000 on April 14, 2025, with conditions for house arrest and an ankle monitor if released. His family has raised significant funds for his defense, and his attorneys, including Michael Howard, are seeking a fair trial, urging the public to withhold judgment.
No prior criminal history has been confirmed, though unverified claims on social media mention past school suspensions. The case remains under investigation, with no trial date set.
