Joe Rogan, the so-called Spotify king, has been dethroned by actual royalty. Meghan Markle’s fresh new podcast, “Archetypes,” has reached number one on Spotify in the United States and six other countries. Since he launched “The Joe Rogan Experience” in May 2020, Rogan has had the most popular podcast on the platform. Rogan interviewed Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, in his most recent show. It’s unclear if Markle’s popularity will last after the dust settles.

“Archetypes” did only top the Spotify charts in the US but also in Canada, the U.K., Ireland, New Zealand, and Australia. Archwell Audio and Gimlet Media of Spotify are collaborating to produce the podcast.

Serena Williams, a tennis champion and a good friend of the Duchess of Suss-x joined her as the podcast’s first guest. The two discussed how the word “ambition” has come to be associated with women in a dirty way. Markle stated that before she started dating Prince Harry, she had never heard the phrase used negatively. “Since I’ve felt the negativity behind it, it’s really hard to un-feel it,” she said. “I can’t unsee it, either, in the millions of girls and women who make themselves smaller – so much smaller – on a regular basis.”

In a promo, the Duchess said that the audience would get to know the “real” her, “probably the me that they’ve never gotten to know — certainly not in the past few years, where everything is through the lens of the media as opposed to, ‘Hey, it’s me.'”

Markle compared their choice to step away from their royal responsibilities to Williams’ decision to retire from tennis this year, reported Fox News. Markle stated, “It takes a lot of courage, I think, too, to stop something in many ways than to keep going sometimes.”

The couple resigned from their roles as senior royals in January 2020 and finally made their way to California, where they are now working on several media projects. In March 2021, they also gave Oprah Winfrey a controversial interview in which they strongly criticized the palace. Meghan discussed personal, royal, and media issues. She talked about considering suicide while she was a working royal and how she and her son felt unprotected while a part of the royal institution. The interview was met with a mixed and controversial response.

Meghan received the titles of Princess of the United Kingdom and Royal Highness through her marriage to Prince Harry. After marrying Harry, she took the title “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Suss-x.” She is also known as the Baroness Kilkeel and the Countess of Dumbarton. She is the first person to hold the title “Duchess of Suss-x.” The Duke and Duchess agreed to stop using the term “Royal Highness” after opting to depart from royal duties in 2020. However they retained the title.

Mariah Carey will soon appear on Markle’s show.
