Fans want Whoopi Goldberg fired, former co-host brought back

The fans of the popular show 'The View' demanded that the show should replace Whoopi Goldberg with an infamous ex-host.

For making "offensive" comments again about the Holocaust, Goldberg was slammed by the fans, according to The Sun.

Goldberg recently brought her comments up again about the Holocaust, as back in February she claimed that it was "not about race."

It is still unclear if they will bring her back or if she will be suspended, as she made those comments while the show was on hiatus.

The fans of 'The View' are, however, demanding for the moderator to be fired, and they have already chosen who they want to replace her with, which would be Rosie O'Donnell.

"If Whoopi is fired, should they bring back Rosie?" A Reddit user started a thread about the controversy with this title.

"Whoopi who I love, once again said something really dumb and ABC has to be angry. If she's fired, should they get Rosie O'Donnell back as mod? She was good TV, IMO," they wrote.

Another fan wrote: "I would love for Rosie to come back, if only to see how she would handle the Sunny issue. I also think it would be interesting to see how she interacts with Farrah. Her and Elizabeth were on opposite sides politically, but did get along quite well for a while."

"I would love Rosie to come back!!" Said another fan.

"Bring Rosie back!!! Love her. Even as a special correspondent!" one more fan agreed.

But there is the fact that she has "been burned too many times" by the show, so others said that she would never come back.

Back in February, when Goldberg made similar comments, she was suspended from 'The View' for two weeks.

Despite the fact that six million Jewish people were murdered by the Nazis, the Oscar-winning actress claimed that the Holocaust was "not about race."

In an apology on Twitter, Goldberg expressed regret for her words by saying: “My words upset so many people, which was never my intention.”

“I understand why now and for that, I am deeply, deeply grateful because the information I got was really helpful and helped me understand some different things,” added Goldberg.

But as she repeated the same claim recently, it seems that the 67-year-old did not appear to learn from her mistake.

It was insisted by the daytime TV host that the question of Jewish people being a race is still up in the air - even to Jews themselves.

“My best friend said, ‘Not for nothing is there no box on the census for the Jewish race. So that leads me to believe that we’re probably not a race,’" said Goldberg in an interview with The Times of London.

“Yes, but that’s the killer, isn’t it?” Goldberg said after warning against agreeing with the Nazis who saw Jews as a race.

“The oppressor is telling you what you are. Why are you believing them? They’re Nazis. Why believe what they’re saying?” She said.

Goldberg then started explaining how the Holocaust "wasn't originally" about race, saying: “Remember who they were killing first. They were not killing racial; they were killing physical."

"They were killing people they considered to be mentally defective. And then they made this decision,” said Goldberg.

Goldberg released a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, where she apologized.

Referring to her comments in early 2022, Goldberg said that her recent comments were an attempt to “convey to the reporter what I had said and why, and attempted to recount that time.”

Saying that she had talked with and heard from many people in the Jewish community, who educated her, she added that “it was never my intention to appear as if I was doubling down on hurtful comments.”

“I’m still learning a lot and believe me, I heard everything everyone said to me," said Goldberg.

"I believe that the Holocaust was about race, and I am still as sorry now as I was then that I upset, hurt and angered people. My sincere apologies again, especially to everyone who thought this was a fresh rehash of the subject. I promise it was not," she said.

“In this time of rising antisemitism, I want to be very clear when I say that I always stood with the Jewish people and always will. My support for them has not wavered and never will,” Goldberg concluded.
