Trump goes after Manhattan DA during presidential event

Former President Donald Trump gave supporters a huge update on a case brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg during a major campaign rally in Waco, Texas, Saturday evening. “I think they’ve already dropped the case. It’s a fake case. Some fake cases, they have absolutely nothing,” Trump told reporters while on his plane after the rally, Axios reported.

Trump made his remarks a week after predicting that Bragg was about to indict him over alleged campaign finance violations regarding a $130,000 "hush money" payment reportedly made to adult film star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election. The week ended without any indictment, which Trump spoke to at one point during his rally.

Trump made similar remarks online. “The Manhattan D.A. Witch Hunt against me is DEAD, no evidence at all, & it has been conclusively proven that I did nothing wrong! The evidence against their ‘Star’ witness, however, is overwhelming,” the former president posted to Truth Social on Saturday.

“An already disbarred lawyer & convicted Felon, the only question left is will the D.A.s Office sue him for lying & fraud. They should! The SDNY already found him guilty on charges unrelated to “TRUMP,” & wrote a scathing report. He is responsible for time taken away from the D.A. on VIOLENT CRIME!”

During his rally, Trump did not mince words regarding how he felt about his former personal lawyer, Michael Cohen.

Trump called Cohen a ” proven liar, a convicted felon, and a disbarred lawyer.”

In reference to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s probe, Trump said: “They took the word and they drew the liar, a convicted felon and a disbarred lawyer, all the same person, they were. You wouldn’t think that they’d go to one place, there would be three, four, five.

“Over some of the most respected lawyers testifying against the injunction, all of these pages of documents, they went back to old cases that were summarily rejected by many prosecutors, highly respected prosecutors, Democrat prosecutors all, before including, I won’t tell you, the existing prosecutor who said, this case doesn’t make sense, it doesn’t make sense,” Trump added.

He also ripped his former lawyer for supporting Hillary Clinton and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) while working to “go get Trump.”
