Ex-FBI agent part of Trump/Russia investigation sentenced to 50 months for working with Russian oligarch
You really can't make this stuff up. One of the FBI guys who helped investigate Donald Trump for alleged collusion with Russia was just sentenced to 50 months in prison for secretly colluding with a Russian oligarch. It's like these stories just make themselves up. The guy's name is Charles McGonigal and he's now one of the highest-ranking FBI agents to ever face criminal charges.
ABC News reported a quote from the disgraced FBI agent, where McGonigal said: "I committed a felony and as a former FBI special agent it causes me extreme emotional and physical pain," McGonigal told the judge prior to the imposition of the sentence. "I stand before you today with a deep sense of remorse."
The judge, Jennifer Rearden, ackknowleged his work with the FBI, but did not agree to pleas for no jail time because of how serious his crime was. She did the right thing, according to many people on social media who are shaking their heads over what happened.
How was McGonigal tied to the Trump/Russia investigation (hoax)? ABC's report said:

How was McGonigal tied to the Trump/Russia investigation (hoax)? ABC's report said:
As the former chief of counterintelligence in the bureau’s New York field office, McGonigal was among the first FBI officials to be notified that former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos was aware that Russia had obtained a trove of Hillary Clinton’s emails.McGonigal eventually relayed this to the FBI in July 2016, with his note playing a crucial role in instigating a case into alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin. The resulting investigation, conducted by special counsel Robert Mueller, failed to produce sufficient evidence to prove then-President Trump’s guilt. The probe lasted 22 months and reportedly cost over $30 million.
