Republican Rep. Jim Jordan wasted no time in slaying Democrats for the failure to control large urban cities when he Tweeted the following: "52 shot. 10 dead. One weekend Democrat-run Chicago." Jim Jordan linked to a story about the violent weekend that broke out in Chicago over Memorial Day weekend. However, the story he linked to had the old numbers that stated only 46 shot, 9 dead. The statistics on the violent Chicago weekend have been updated to 53 shot, 11 dead, according to ABC News.

The report about Chicago's violent Memorial Day weekend stated the following:

The gunshot victims included two toddlers who were accidentally shot and wounded in separate incidents and two teenagers, a 14-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl, who were hurt in unrelated shootings while standing on sidewalks, according to a review by ABC News of the weekend incident reports from the Chicago Police Department.

On Tuesday, police officials said at least 53 people were shot across the city in 42 separate incidents that occurred between 6 p.m. on Friday and 11:59 p.m. on Monday.

Besides the 11 people who were fatally shot over the weekend, an additional person was fatally stabbed, according to police.

The string of shootings occurred as newly-elected Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson's safety plan was deployed over the Memorial Day weekend. Johnson's initiative supports violence prevention programs, and youth outreach efforts by funding the work of more than 250 grassroots organizations across 24 communities on the West and South Sides of Chicago.

It remains unclear what Mayor Brandon Johnson can do. Former Mayor Lori Lightfoot was not able to get a grip on Chicago. Many Democrat-run cities like Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore, and Philadelphia constantly have issues with violence and the mayors and DAs seem to be softer on crime than Republican counterparts.

Some major urban cities have decades of Democrat leadership only to see crime rates continuously rise or crime spread to areas that were previously peaceful. Philadelphia is a perfect example of how crime has gotten out of control and DA Larry Krasner faces daily calls to resign while failing Mayor Jim Kenney allowed the city to fall apart worse than it was before.

Many Americans keep asking the same thing - why do people who live in large cities keep voting for Democrats when their city keeps getting worse under Democrat leadership?
