Adult changing tables in new public restrooms becomes law in Minnesota
Adult changing tables are now a law in Minnesota for new public restrooms or spaces as of this week after people spoke out when they had dehumanizing experiences of laying on the floor to change their adult dressings. Linda Hood, a former marathon runner lost her legs from a virus and she now uses a wheelchair. She expressed how terrible it was to get changed while laying on the floor, so the adult changing tables will be a much better experience for her and others in her position.
Another woman, Sarah St. Louis was having trouble changing her son who experienced a traumatic brain injury. He's too big for the small changing tables, so to have something more fitting for his size was a great help for her and her daily life, as reported on CBS:
When readers saw the title of this, they may have thought it was for adults who identify as toddlers, but it's really a law to support the people who actually need and benefit from this. Of course, it is highly likely that some adults who don't really need the adult changing tables will be using them, specifically those experiencing identity issues.

"The only places we had to change him were dirty public restroom floors. I realized that this is really undignified, it's not sanitary, it's not safe and it's humiliating to put your child on a dirty bathroom floor," St. Louis said.
Four years ago she took on the momentous task of changing the law alongside advocates like Hood, who never gave up.
"We got Sen. Liz Bolden and Rep. Kim Hicks to be respective authors. They spent about 15 hours over two days, and they finally voted 34 to 33 to pass it on. Just after midnight, they passed it, and then we got Gov. Walz to sign it last week," Hood said.
She added it was quite emotional.
"It just, it makes tears fall, it just makes tears fall," Hood said.
