A woman posted a video suggesting that Donald Trump wants to make changes to the welfare and food stamp programs. The woman says she does not want to work in order to qualify for food stamps. She also says she plans to vote for Kamala Harris in the 2024 election, basically so she can get food stamps without any changes to the programs.
Trump was talking about cutting back on the program during his presidency. USDA nixed all of that under Joe Biden's presidency. A report on MSN discussed what Trump wanted to do back then, and what he could consider doing in the future, but it hasn't actually been a hot topic in years. The report on MSN said this about Trump's ideas that would get people moving and into the workforce:
It sounds like Trump wanted to get people working for a living instead of milking a system. Food stamps and welfare programs are for people who NEED them the most while they get back on their feet or fall on hard times. There's nothing wrong with being on the program when you need REAL HELP to live. However, there's also a thing called a WELFARE QUEEN where people play the system and purposely won't go to work, all so they can get the freebies like food stamps, welfare, section 8, etc... there should be tight restrictions to make sure people who are capable of working are getting off the couch and making a better life for themselves. The goal of the Trump administration was to tighten the work requirements for SNAP. The new rule was proposed to limit the criteria for states that could apply for certain waivers by making 6% the minimum unemployment rate for each county. This would’ve been a steep change since able-bodied adults without dependents from 18-49 could receive food benefits for a maximum of three months during a three-year period unless working or enrolled in a training program of at least 80 hours per month. States have been able to waive the time limit to provide access to food stamps.
