Little Mermaid movie updates lyrics to add 'consent' to popular songs

Looks like we're going full woke on the Little Mermaid remake movie. First of all, if you watch the trailer to the movie, in the video above, you'll see that the lighting on this movie absolutely sucks. This is terrible lighting that will replay poorly on most televisions. They should have brightened it up a bit. Sure, it's a fictional movie under the sea and it's dark down there, but for the sake of a good user experience, they should have brightened it up a bit.

Second, they are updating the lyrics to at least two songs, per report on NY Post, to include the concept of CONSENT so people don't think mermaids can just walk up to a boy and kiss them or vice versa with a boy going to kiss a mermaid. This hasn't been a problem since 1989, but people nowadays are complete idiots. People weren't watching the original Little Mermaid and then going out to gang-bang mermaids without consent. Just another woke example of people fixing things that were never broken and being mocked in the process.

NY Post had some of the details, but the official changes haven't really been made public. Here's what NY Post said:

Two classic songs from “The Little Mermaid” received updated lyrics for the upcoming live-action remake to emphasize consent and female empowerment.In an interview published Tuesday, Vanity Fair asked Alan Menken, the 73-year-old prolific Disney composer, if any changes needed to be made to the music from the 1989 animated flick.“

There are some lyric changes in ‘Kiss the Girl’ because people have gotten very sensitive about the idea that [Prince Eric] would, in any way, force himself on [Ariel],” he revealed.“We have some revisions in ‘Poor Unfortunate Souls’ regarding lines that might make young girls somehow feel that they shouldn’t speak out of turn, even though Ursula is clearly manipulating Ariel to give up her voice,” Menken added.
