Obama Family personal chef found dead near Martha's Vineyard

Former President Barack Obama's personal chef has been found dead after an accident while paddle boarding at Martha's Vineyard. WCVB reported that "State police say former President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, were not on the Massachusetts island at the time of the incident, which happened near their home."

UPDATE: 7/25: new reports say Obama's were at Martha's Vineyard at the time this happened, just not at the premises at that time.

One of former President Barack Obama's chefs has been found dead, according to multiple reports.  Massachusetts State Police said divers recovered the body from the Edgartown Great Pond, according to a July 24 news release. He  was later identified as Tafari Campbell of Dumfries, VA.The deceased 45-year-old man was paddleboarding near the Obama family's Martha's Vineyard home before going missing.

Neither the former President nor former First Lady Michelle Obama were at the residence at the time of the incident, according to authorities.A witness alleged they saw the chef—who was also a husband and father of twins—struggling to stay aboard the small watercraft before going under, according to police. It is assumed he ultimately drowned, although an investigation of the incident is currently underway by the State Police Detective Unit for the Cape and Islands District and Edgartown Police.

Shortly before 10 AM the body of the missing paddle boarder was recovered from Edgartown Great Pond by Massachusetts State Police divers. MSP Underwater Recovery Unit divers made the recovery after the victim’s body was located by a Massachusetts Environmental Police Officers deploying side-scan sonar from a boat. As previously noted, the victim is a 43-year-old male. His name is not being released at this time; we expect to release his name later today.

The recovery was made approximately 100 feet from shore at a depth of about eight feet. The investigation into the fatality is being conducted by the State Police Detective Unit for the Cape and Islands District and Edgartown Police.
