America is dealing with a squatter problem and some some backed up courts are making it even worse. And in some cases, there are more serious crimes being committed such as murder. In one case, a woman was found dead in a duffel bag and two squatters have been taken into custody for questioning about the death of the woman and taking over her property, allegedly.
6ABC reported that two squatters were taken into custody for questioning about the woman’s murder. The crime took place when the victim showed up to her deceased mom’s apartment, which was reportedly vacant for several months. The woman walked in on the squatters and next thing you know, she’s dead and in a duffel bag. She reportedly died of blunt force trauma. 6ABC News reported on the incident, saying they fled NYC in a stolen car and ended up arrested in York, PA:
Halley Tejada, 19, and Kensly Alston, 18, were wanted in connection to the brutal death of Nadia Vitels. Tejada is being held on a local charge of receiving stolen property, for possession of the victim’s stolen Lexus. Both are being held pending extradition for her murder.
Vitels arrived in the country from Spain last week to prepare the East 31st Street apartment for a family friend. It was owned by her mother, and had been vacant for the three to four months since her death.
