Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones’ wife has been arrested on a domestic violence charge that the right-wing provocateur said originates from a “medication imbalance.”
Erika Wulff Jones was taken into custody in an Austin jail by the sheriff’s deputies, and she is facing misdemeanor charges of assault causing bodily injury to a family member and resisting arrest, search or transport, as the jail records show.
“It’s a private family matter that happened on Christmas Eve,” Alex Jones said after declining to say whether he’d been injured or to elaborate on what happened beyond that he believes it was related to his wife’s recent change of medication. “I love my wife and care about her and it appears to be some kind of medication imbalance,” he said.
He also said that his wife’s arrest doesn’t concern his politics and that “it wasn’t some kind of personal hateful thing or anything.”
Jones sued this week, asking to block court summons issued to him by the House committee to investigate the January 6 uprising in the American Capitol. He spoke at a rally in support of then-President Donald Trump, who caused the riots, and his Infowars counterpart, Owen Schroyer, has been charged with crimes in this regard. But Shroyer has said that he is “innocent of the charges.”
