Democrats who were hoping to see Trump in jail won’t be seeing that anytime soon. And to be fair, I believe there was no chance of Trump being jailed for a crime involving business records anyway. I’m no legal expert, but I don’t think he would be jailed for that – but I suppose if the people going after him were super anti-Trump and didn’t put their emotions to the side, then anything is possible. Except, it’s delayed indefinitely and that’s good for the president-elect.
Donald Trump now has one less thing to worry about heading into his second term as president in January. Trump can thank Judge Juan Merchan for this one. The judge has indefinitely delayed the sentencing for Trump’s hush money case. Trump was found guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business records, but he won’t be sentenced any time soon, according to the report on NBC New York.
Trump had a sentencing set for next week, but that’s canceled for now. The report on NBC NY further said, “Prosecutors from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office told Merchan this week that they supported pausing the sentencing date in order to give Trump’s lawyers time to argue that the case should be tossed entirely. But the DA’s office also said they would oppose that dismissal bid. Trump’s attorneys — including Todd Blanche, whom Trump recently tapped to be the No. 2 official at the Department of Justice — argued Tuesday that the case must be thrown out “immediately.”
