Raiders release WR Ruggs; Deputy DA says he was traveling 156 MPH before crash; Pro Football Talk weighs in

The Raiders have parted ways with wide receiver Henry Ruggs III after finding out more information regarding the car crash he was involved in. According to records, Ruggs was charged with DUI resulting in death and dangerous driving.

Ruggs was driving the Chevrolet Corvette at a high rate of speed when it plowed into the back of the Toyota Rav4, which was found on fire, according to the initial investigation. According to the LVMPD statement, Ruggs displayed “evidence of impairment.”

Ruggs was reportedly driving at 156 mph before the incident, according to Chief Deputy District Attorney Eric Bauman, and had a blood-alcohol level more than double the legal limit in that area.

DUI that results in death is classified as a category B felony in Nevada. It carries a potential prison sentence of two to twenty years.
