Thanks to the people who’ve canceled their memberships or had memberships revoked, the Planet Fitness business is “pretty much destroyed” according to the company founder. This is all because of their open door bathroom policy that allowed biological males to use the women’s bathroom/lockerroom, something most real women would object to for reasons of both safety and privacy. Some might call this the ‘Bud Light treatment.’
Mike Grondahl, the founder and CEO of Planet Fitness, talked about it after facing weeks of potential boycotts when one of the gym locations canceled the membership of a real woman who complained about having a guy in the women’s only spaces. It doesn’t matter if the guy identifies as a woman, he’s not a woman, and that’s the problem here. She also took the picture of him in the bathroom, which is against the gym’s policies, but the bigger issue is that women don’t feel comfortable, safe, or secure in their own spaces when it’s invaded by men who dress up like women.
The business news article on Yahoo said Planet Fitness allows people to use the locker room that’s associated with their gender identity – but that shouldn’t be allowed anywhere because it tramples on women’s privacy and security. Would you want a high school girl in the locker room with a naked male, just because he dresses like a woman? No one with any common sense should ever support that. The Yahoo News article also mentioned times where people were harassed or abused:
Planet Fitness’s policy allows gym members to use the locker room associated with their gender identity. But this policy has led to a few high-profile cases of women feeling uncomfortable in Planet Fitness women’s locker rooms, and some women and children have reported abuse and sexual harassment at the facilities. Many of these incidents resulted in the women losing their membership, but an arrest was made in at least one instance, as previously reported by Benzinga.
Planet Fitness is supposed to be a “judgement free zone” but that should not mean putting men in the women’s only spaces. There needs to be a line drawn where judgement free on the gym floor does not mean judgement free in the bathroom. There is never a reason where a young girl should have to feel like her space is invaded by a perverted male who thinks he’s a woman. Dress as you please, but leave the women only spaces alone. That’s all people are asking for.
Grondahl talked about the situation with potential boycotts and Planet Fitness, saying: “Planet Fitness was like another child for me. And I put my heart and soul into building that company and it’s been pretty much destroyed in, ya know, it’s lost all respect within the country within the last couple weeks… There’s no common sense standing behind this.” Except, there is common sense. Grondahl can change the policy to make it so males cannot enter a women’s locker room or bathroom and that would fix everything. What would he lose, maybe a handful of transgender customers at best? But wait, there’s more to the story and it involves a very popular X account who’s known for exposing things that are very, very wrong in society and culture in general. The report continued:
Grondahl told Libs of TikTok he didn’t approve of the policies or the response to them in recent weeks. Grondahl sold the company to private equity in November 2012 and lost control. Following the sale, he remained CEO until he was ousted after he reported that the chief administrative officer (CAO) and general counsel hired by the private equity firm had been found guilty of multiple charges over several years and abused minors on several occasions. In two instances, he was a teacher and was found guilty of abusing his students. The CAO left Planet Fitness in 2017.
“When we went public, the majority of the board knew that this lead attorney was a pedophile. It’s in the culture.” Grondahl said during the TikTok interview.
The Planet Fitness “culture” includes accusations of widespread abuse at the company. “It started at the corporate office, this attorney started abusing employees, then he’s abusing them sexually, now the culture leads into the people doing the right thing are being thrown out of Planet Fitness,” Grondahl said.
So yeah, it’s worse than we thought. I’d be shocked if Planet Fitness lasted another year. There’s plenty of other gyms to sign up for that, hopefully, don’t have this much nonsense going on in the locker rooms or behind the scenes. Want to see something else that’s repulsive? How about this swimming competition that let an older man swim with young girls? How messed up is that?
