In today’s weird quote of the century, we have a consultant representing the San Francisco Department of Public Health, Virgie Tovar, who once said “no one has to be healthy.’ That is quite an interesting statement and RFK Jr. would probably lose his mind if he heard it.

Virgie Tovar appeared in a video where she suggested that not eating as much cake as you want is some form of oppression. Social media users had a lot to say about the video. Watch Virgie Tovar on the video below:

An article on the Toronto Sun explained more about Virgie Tovar’s job and how much she’ll be paid. The political news story said the following:

Virgie Tovar, 42, a longtime activist for body positivity and fat acceptance and self-described “anti-weight-based discrimination” expert, was hired to consult on stigmas faced by overweight people.

“Weight stigma can lead to psychological distress and can have a negative impact on mental health,” the health department said in a statement to the San Francisco Chronicle.

“Weight stigma can also undermine health behaviors and preventive care, causing disordered eating, decreased physical activity, health care avoidance and weight gain.”

Tovar will be paid $12,000 for her temporary position with the city, which ends on June 30, 2025, the publication reported.

Who is Virgie Tovar? She is a body positivity advocate, author, and lecturer. She is known for her work in weight-based discrimination and fat acceptance. Tovar has authored several books, including “You Have the Right to Remain Fat” and “The Self-Love Revolution: Radical Body Positivity for Girls of Color”. She also hosts the podcast “Rebel Eaters Club” and has been a contributor for Forbes.

Recently, Tovar was hired by the San Francisco Department of Public Health to consult on weight stigma and weight neutrality. She is a prominent voice in the movement against diet culture and advocates for the acceptance of all body types.
