Kirsten Dunst sounds like she’s complaining about being paid less than Tobey Maquire in the Spider-Man movies. Well, she deserved to be paid less, she was Mary Jane, not the main character guy slinging all the webs. She was a sidepiece actress who could’ve been replaced by a million different women in Hollywood, except for Megan Fox because she’s just awful now.
Dunst was talking with Variety when the Spider-Man pay gap came up. The entertainment article on Variety said:
When the film became a massive blockbuster, grossing $825 million globally and kicking off the modern era of superhero films, a sequel became a fait accompli. That’s where things get messy. Maguire pulled down a reported $17 million to reprise his role. “It might have been more, actually,” Dunst speculates. As for her salary, “It was different. A lot different. And I was in ‘Bring It On’ and had a track record.” It was another example of how, in Hollywood, young women didn’t receive pay parity.
Yeah, she should have been paid less. She’s a supporting actor, not the main character. She could’ve been replaced by just about anyone. The main actor deserves the biggest paycheck, and in this case, it’s freaking SPIDER-MAN – obviously whomever plays Spider-Man is getting the biggest paycheck. Kirsten Dunst can shut up and stop her entitled whining and enjoy spending her zillions of dollars she makes to be in movies. I’m over here cutting coupons or shopping at Aldi to save a few bucks, I don’t want to hear her crying. I love Aldi by the way, best store ever!
