Jerry quits Ben & Jerry’s after Unilever demands they chill the activism

Due to Unilever telling the famous ice cream brand to calm down on the wokeness and political issues, Jerry has decided to leave.

“It’s with a broken heart that I’ve decided I can no longer, in good conscience, and after 47 years, remain an employee of Ben & Jerry’s.” Wrote Jerry Greenfield, the co-founder of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream brand, on his X account.

Greenfield’s political and activist values clashed with the parent company, Unilever. The first clashes started in 2021, when Ben & Jerry’s said they would stop selling ice cream in the Israeli-occupied West Bank as a response to the conflict in Gaza.

“It’s profoundly disappointing to come to the conclusion that independence, the very basis of our sale to Unilever, is gone.” Wrote Greenfield.
