Fiona Wild resigns after ‘good riddance’ Kirk post

A Lancashire councillor has resigned after posting that the assassination of right-wing US political activist Charlie Kirk was “good riddance.”

Fiona Wild, who served as an independent councillor for Lanehead ward on Burnley Council, deleted the post which also claimed the “not… very nice man made himself a target and brought this on himself.”

Kirk, a prominent conservative media figure and close ally of former President Donald Trump, was 31-years-old when he was shot at a college in Utah on Wednesday. Burnley Council confirmed Wild’s resignation, stating it “does not condone the comments” and is investigating the complaints.
