Jimmy Kimmel is at the root of another scandal after the Center for American Rights filed an FCC complaint against ABC’s show, ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ The complaint accused the host of ‘unlawful politicking’ during the show, which is an improper way to use public airwaves that are governed by the FCC.
Hosts are not exactly permitted to amplify candidates that they donate to, without disclosing the contributions. The complaint requests that the FCC investigate Jimmy Kimmel’s show and suggested that late-night hosts in general are turning too political and using their platforms irresponsibly. It’s a conflict of interest.
The complaint further pointed out that Kimmel seems to appear mostly with Democrats, donates to Democrats, and 97% of his political jokes mock Republicans. Kimmel was also accused of giving ‘softball interviews’ to his guests who are tied to, or supportive of the Democratic Party.
