Sports and politics commenter Clay Travis slammed former President Barack Obama’s claims that he didn’t know the motivation for Charlie Kirk’s murder.
After the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk in September 2025, former President Barack Obama issued a statement condemning the violence. Obama joined other former and current leaders in calling for an end to political violence.
Obama wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that the “despicable violence has no place in our democracy.” He and former First Lady Michelle Obama offered prayers to Kirk’s family, specifically mentioning his wife and two young children. Obama noted that the motive behind the shooting was not yet known.
The motive was revealed to be political as there were messages written on the bullets found in Charlie Kirk’s murder.
Clay Travis said the following, and more: “YOU CAUSED THIS… You can’t call the president of the United States Adolf Hitler for 10 years… you cannot say that anyone who voted for Trump or advocated for him like you, me, Riley, and Charlie Kirk are Nazis, and then when someone tries to kill us, suddenly say, ‘We condemn this violence.’ You caused it! Look at me right now! You caused this! When you tell people that someone is Hitler, you are telling crazy people: go kill them. And I’m sick of pretending that is anything other than what they are doing. … Charlie Kirk bore the brunt of that left-wing violence.”
