City of Austin slammed for spending $1.1 million on rebrand

Residents of Austin, Texas are disgusted by the city’s rebrand that cost $1.1 million in taxpayer dollars.

Chief communications director, Jessica King, tried to talk up the new logo and talk about why they chose it, but residents who saw the rebranding price tag didn’t care. They were more concerned with why the city wasted $1.1 million on some graphic design when there’s plenty of projects that need funding, help, or improvement.

A new logo doesn’t help anyone, but cleaning up parks, streets, or improving the city in more meaningful ways would’ve made residents more happy.

One person on Reddit said, “This logo is exactly what is wrong with this city. Completely unnecessary, ugly and diverts money away from necessary projects.”
