Angel Reese automatically suspended without pay after backhanding opponent

Angel Reese of the WNBA’s Chicago Sky is set to receive an automatic suspension after her eighth technical foul following a backhand of an opponent in a recent game. The WNBA rule suspends players for one game, without pay, after their eighth technical foul.

Reese and the Sky beat the Connecticut Sun 88-64, but have a very bad 10-30 record. During that game, Reese backhanded Aaliyah Edwards in the face during a battle for position under the rim.

Clutch Points posted a video of the backhand and stated: “Angel Reese was assessed her 8th technical foul of the season after incidental contact with Aaliyah Edwards on this play. She will be suspended for the Sky’s next game unless it is rescinded. Was this worth a tech?” See the video for yourself below:
